Home Sweet Home

We are so happy we only had to stay two nights! Sam did so well with the injections and all of his lab work came back clean, so they let us go yesterday. And we are already seeing a huge improvement! It is such a relief. He's still having a few seizures, but they are few and far between. He is so much calmer and went right for his toys as soon as he got home (he hasn't been able to concentrate on toys for weeks). And...the best part is that he slept last night!! 10 hours uninterrupted! Which makes me so happy because I know that's healthy for his brain development. Mommy and Daddy were so happy to sleep, too. The rooms at CHOP are not exactly "comfy." I actually crawled in the crib with Sam the second night I was so desperate.
Oh, and I almost forgot, we have one more piece of good news....Sam's genetic panel came back and he doesn't have any of those genetic disorders I mentioned earlier!! The dr. said it doesn't mean he doesn't have a genetic abnormality, she said there are literally thousands of genes they haven't learned to test for yet, but that this is still really really positive news because he doesn't have the genetic syndromes associated with infantile spasms. Which means they really can't make any predictions about what Sam can and can't be able to do....which means the sky's the limit :)
I hope everyone is having a good weekend,
L :)

  1. Laurie-I am so happy reading this that I actually have tears in my eyes. The fact that the labs came back and no genetic link is found yet is outstanding news (You know I've read everything available on the web so I know how great it is to hear that). And I am so glad he is already feeling better from the ACTH. We are so gonna be on the beach in no time. I wonder if the snow will be gone in time. Miss you all and send our love!!!!! ~Karen
